11/7/98 • NCAA Southeast Regional Meet

The Rollins College women's cross country team and three members of the men's team posted solid showings as the NCAA Southeast Regionals in Atlanta. The women finished in 14th position out of  32 total teams while the three members of the men's team participating all posted personal best times.  As they had done two weeks earlier in the Sunshine State Conference Championships, the Tars were second among Sunshine State Conference teams in the meet. Freshman Allison Nichols finished  41st overall with a 6,000 meter time of 24:48. Sophomore Kirsten Palacios finished 57th out of the 150 runners with a time of 25:16.  On the men's side, Chris Boynton led the team and finished 98th with a time of 36:37. Brian Kilpatrick was close behind in 102nd place with a time of 36:50. Senior Mike Gebo topped his previous best with a time of 38:08. 

10/24/98 • Sunshine State Conference Championships

The women's cross country team placed second out of seven teams at the Sunshine State Conference Championships.  The men's team placed fourth.  Freshman Allison Nichols led the Tars and finished eighth overall with a time of 25:04 to earn second team All-SSC honors.  Sophomore Kirsten Palacios finished in tenth position with a time of 27:20 and also earned second team All-SSC honors.  Freshman Alice Beaver finished in 13th position with a time of 27:20.  Junior Brian Kilpatrick led the men's team with a personal-best 10K time of 37:40 to finish in 11th position overall.   Senior Chris Boynton placed 17th overall and senior Mike Gebo placed 18th with times of 39:44 and 39:45 respectively.

10/10/98 • The Disney Classic

The women's cross country placed 10th out of 18 teams in the Disney Classic.  Freshmen Allison Nichols knocked 18 seconds of her best time and led the women with a time of 20:27.  Kirsten Palacios knocked 43 seconds off her time and finished with a time of 21:07.  The men placed sixth in the meet.  Leading the men was senior Chris Boynton with a 23rd place overall finish and a time of 29:29. Junior Brian Kilpatrick posted a time of 30:31 in only his second collegiate race. Mike Gebo was immediately behind Kilpatrick with a time of 30:36.

10/3/98 • University of Florida NationsBank Invitational

Senior Chris Boynton set a personal best as he led the men at the NationsBank Invitational.  Boynton finished in a time of 29:44 as he placed 45th in a mainly Division I field.  Second for the Tars was Senior Mike Gebo who finished with a time of 31:18.  Leading the was Freshmen Allison Nichols who finished with a 20:55.  Second and third for the women were Kirsten Palacios and Alice Beaver.  Both ran well finishing 62nd and 75th respectively. 

9/26/98 • Florida Southern Invitational

The 1998 Florida Southern Invitational in Lakeland Florida had to be cancelled due to the threat of Hurricane Georges.   

9/19/98 • Florida Tech Panther Invitational

The Rollins women's cross country team posted a strong second place finish at the Florida Tech Invitational in Melbourne. The Tars finished with 85 team points, 17 points ahead of Eckerd and Saint Leo, who tied for third position. The men's squad placed fifth out of seven teams.  Leading the way for the women's squad was freshman Allison Nichols with a time of 21:45. She placed ninth overall and was the highest finisher in the race not from Florida Southern. Sophomore Kirsten Palacios finished 13th overall with a time of 22:52. Freshman Alice Beaver was 15th overall with a time of 23:30.  Senior Chris Boynton led the men's squad and finished 13th overall with a 10K time of 39:11. Mike Gebo placed 24th overall with a time of 40:55.

9/11/98 • University of Central Florida

The Rollins men's and women's cross country teams each opened the 1998 season with solid eighth place finishes at the UCF Invitational. The women's squad finished eighth out of 14 teams, third out of the eight Division II and NAIA squads at the meet. The men's team placed 8th out of 12 teams, 5th of eight Division II and NAIA squads.   Leading the way for the women was sophomore Captain Kirsten Palacios with a 5K time of 21:36.  Freshman  Allison Nichols finished her first collegiate race with a time of 22:16. Pacing the men's squad was senior Captain Chris Boynton with a time of 31:05. Senior Mike Gebo placed well with a time of 31:48.
