Women, Men solid at NCAA Southeast Regional Meet

Atlanta, GA...The women finished in 14th position out of  32 total teams while the three members of the men's team participating all posted personal best times.  As they had done two weeks earlier in the Sunshine State Conference Championships, the Tars were second among Sunshine State Conference teams in the meet. Freshman Allison Nichols finished  41st overall with a 6,000 meter time of 24:48. Sophomore Kirsten Palacios finished 57th out of the 150 runners with a time of 25:16.  On the men's side, Chris Boynton led the team and finished 98th with a time of 36:37. Brian Kilpatrick was close behind in 102nd place with a time of 36:50. Senior Mike Gebo topped his previous best with a time of 38:08. 

Nichols Named Rollins "Athlete of the Week"

Winter Park, FL...After leading the Rollins women's cross country team to a second place overall finish and placing eighth individually at the Sunshine State Conference Championships, freshman cross country runner Allison Nichols has been selected as the Rollins College "Athlete of the Week". Nichols was the first non-Florida Southern runner to cross the finish line and posted a personal best time of 25:04 for 6,000 meters while earning second team All-Sunshine State Conference honors.

Nichols, Palacios Earn SSC Honors

Melbourne, FL...Running a 6K instead of the usual 5K, the women's team placed second out of seven teams at the Sunshine State Conference Championships.  Freshman Allison Nichols led the Tars and finished eighth overall with a time of 25:04 to earn second team All-SSC honors.  Sophomore Kirsten Palacios finished in tenth position with a time of 27:20 and also earned second team All-SSC honors.  The Tars finished with a team score of 70, five points ahead of third place Eckerd College.   

Women Take 2nd Place at the SSC Championships

Melbourne, FL...The women's cross country team placed second out of seven teams at the Sunshine State Conference Championships.  Freshman Allison Nichols led the Tars and finished eighth overall with a time of 25:04 to earn second team All-SSC honors.  Sophomore Kirsten Palacios finished in tenth position with a time of 27:20 and also earned second team All-SSC honors.  Freshman Alice Beaver finished in 13th position with a time of 27:20.   

Tars Magical at Disney

Lake Buena Vista, FL...Along with strong team performances at The Disney Classic, several individuals knocked valuable seconds off their times.  For the women, Freshmen Allison Nichols finished 18 seconds faster this week with a time of  20:27. Kirsten Palacios followed with a time of 21:07, knocking  43 seconds off her time.  Kim Singhofen dropped 49 seconds, while teammates Catherine Zavos dropped 1:22, Caroline Rich dropped 1:40, and Ashley Halpert dropped 1:48.   For the men Chris Boynton placed 23rd overall finishing 15 seconds faster with a time of 29:29.  Mike Gebo was 42 seconds faster while Brian Kilpatrick was 1:44 faster.  Tyson Kuch dropped 1:31, Ron Iammartino dropped 1:34, and TR Parker dropped 2:22.   

Boynton Finds PR in Gainesville

Gainesville, FL...Senior Chris Boynton set a personal best as he led the men at the NationsBank Invitational.  Boynton finished the 8,000 meter course in a time of 29:44 as he placed 45th in a mainly Division I field.  Second for the Tars was Senior Mike Gebo who finished with a time of 31:18.  Adding depth to the men were Junior Brian Kilpatrick and Freshmen TR Parker, both of whom ran their first races as a Tar.   

Nichols Named SSC "Runner of the Week"

Winter Park, FL… Freshman women's cross country runner Allison Nichols have been honored as Sunshine State Conference "Athlete of the Week" for her tremendous performance during the week ending September 20th.  The freshman from Windham, New Hampshire, rebounded from a fall in the UCF meet to lead the Tars and place ninth overall with a 5,000 meter time of 21:45.  Nichols was the first runner not from Florida Southern to finish the race.

Women 2nd at Panther Invitational

Melbourne, FL...The Rollins women's cross country team posted a strong second place finish at the Florida Tech Invitational in Melbourne. Leading the way for the women's squad was freshman Allison Nichols with a time of 21:45. She placed ninth overall and was the highest finisher in the race not from Florida Southern. Sophomore Kirsten Palacios finished 13th overall with a time of 22:52. Freshman Alice Beaver was 15th overall with a time of 23:30.

Men and women open season at UCF

Orlando, FL...The Rollins men's and women's cross country teams each opened the 1998 season with solid eighth place finishes at the UCF Invitational. Leading the way for the women was sophomore Captain Kirsten Palacios with a 5K time of 21:36.  Freshman  Allison Nichols finished her first collegiate race with a time of 22:16. Pacing the men's squad was senior Captain Chris Boynton with a time of 31:05. Senior Mike Gebo placed well with a time of 31:48.
